In the afternoon on December 5th, 3313, there was a lull between batches of temporal programming work that led Kanaya to ask a question that had come up incidentally in a recent network debate.

"Vennett, I've actually been wondering..." She hesitates a moment, as typical on Earth for a grave topic. "What do you know about the Royal Family?"

Vennett had been taking a break from the computer screen and was working on a set of blueprints, marking specific locations on the floorplans.

He looks up at the question, scratching at the side of his face. "Not a whole lot, personally. Whatcha thinkin' on?"

"It just occurred to me that..." She hesitated another beat, not sure about Vennett's emotions on the matter. "They didn't come with us, did they?"

His expression was shuttered at that, taking some painstaking attention in rearranging the prints. It wasn't so much that he had any stake in the founders, patriotism was only a middling sort of emotion to him...

"Nah, what you see is what you got."
